Tintin tackles slavery this time around, in an adventure that brings together a large number of supporting characters from previous stories: General Alcazar, Rastapopoulos, Allan, and many of the characters from the fictional land of Khemed. The treatment of the Africans is a little patronising and stereotypical (they are portrayed as little more than children), but the story is still okay.
