– Customer review on 24/05/2008 This is THE book to buy for the gourmet who has everything. In fact, the whole Schott's series of miscellany is the quirky type of book that you don't really think will hold your interest, and then an hour later you are still reading useless (yet totally fascinating) bits of trivia. It is funny, with slang terms, tips on how to ask for things in about 15 languages, and of course the history of cooking and culinary fare, and the usual stuff about etiquette. The stranger the better in this book. Read it before your next dinner party invite to impress a pompous host. While you are at it, have a look at the Sports miscellany and the original as well. Perfect for a rainy day of trivia indulgence.
