– Customer review on 04/11/2008 The Complete Idiot's Guide to Writing a Novel is the next best thing to having the rather engaging and humourous author sitting beside you while attempting to write your first novel. The book is, as expected, laid out in an easy to follow and read format with plenty of spacing and a good sized font used.
It is also, like other books in the Complete Idiot's Guide series, broken up with hints, tips and idea sparks. It was easy to sit down and read this book from cover to cover in an afternoon, even given the relative thickness of it, before heading back to the beginning to go through all the information provided with a fine-tooth comb.
If you want to learn about writing a novel and be entertained without the someone condescending or pompous tone sometimes used in How To books then this book is recommended as a place to start.
