– Customer review on 22/04/2006 Along with Motyer, Oswalt's 2 volumes are arguably the best evangelical commentaries around on the book of Isaiah. Oswalt provides excellent background information on the occasion, canonicity, theology and unity of composition, as well as presenting a section on problems in interpretation.
Oswalt builds on his first volume (1-39) and stresses the unity of the book of Isaiah. Oswalt argues for an 8th century prophet who predicted the events of the 6th century. The work has been described by one reviewer as both scholarly and reverent; this says it all. These two volumes are highly reccomended...
