Love, passion and the road trip of a lifetime from the bestselling author of THE GIRL IN TIMES SQUARE. It's 1981 and Shelby Sloane gets a canary yellow Mustang convertible as a graduation present. She plans an odyssey to find her mother who left her many years earlier. When Shelby's former best friend Gina asks to come along, Shelby reluctantly agrees. When they see a young woman hitchhiking on the side of a country road, they don't want to pick her up. They turn their gaze away. But days later, they find her again. Candy gets in. She needs to get to Paradise -- that's Paradise, California. But she is beset by dangers on a scale beyond the wildest imaginings of Shelby and Gina. She sucks them into her treacherous world and her own frightful journey. The ride that began with high spirits and good humour proceeds into the darkest backroads of America, when Shelby, Candy and Gina are forced to make real moral choices that have critical consequences for their future, and by their ordeals they take a very different journey.

Reviews

Praise for Tatiana and Alexander 'This has everything a romance glutton could wish for: a bold, talented and dashing hero, a heart-stopping love affair ! It also has -- thank goodness -- a welcome sense of humour and discernable characters rather than ciphers.' Victoria Moore, Daily Mail Praise for The Bronze Horseman 'Pulling off the passionate love story embedded in a truly epic narrative is a difficult thing to do. Margaret Mitchell's Gone With the Wind remains the blueprint for the genre, while Tolstoy's War and Peace carries off the literary honours ! it's quickly apparent that the Russian-born author Paullina Simons has the measure of this kind of epic romantic saga ! She is able to make some powerful statements about the durability of the human spirit, but never at the expense of descriptive passages refulgent with power and beauty' Barry Forshaw, amazon Praise for Tully: 'Pick up this book and prepare to have your emotions wrung so completely you'll be sobbing your heart out one minute and laughing through your tears the next.! Read it and weep -- literally' Company Praise for The Girl in Times Square 'Simons' sixth novel considers what happens when life suddenly stops being average. Part mystery, part romance, part family drama!in other words, the perfect book' Daily Mail Further praise for The Girl in Times Square 'A heart-wrenching tale' Closer 'This is a wonderful story, which works on so many levels. The highs and lows of it are amazing. This book may well become your new best friend.' Nottingham Evening Post 'Two people -- one impossible situation; this is a love story for the 21st century written with verve and deep emotion!A powerful story unwinds of love, death and betrayal' Belfast Telegraph

Reviews

4 of 5 Stars! '

If you can get past the whining and self-centred tone of the narrative (the book is written in the first person, by 18-year old Shelby), and a rather slow and boring start, this book is likely to hold your interest till the end. A little heavy on the use of religious quotations, hymns, etc (not really my cup of tea), but an engaging story. One of those books where you never quite like the main characters, but you find yourself caring about them anyway.
