Samurai swords for the Western collector. Covers all the main points of interest: Japanese history, the history of the Japanese sword, the history of Japanese sword appreciation and collection. Modern Japanese swords, types of swords, sword testing, sword etiquette, military swords (briefly), and a guide to the specialist terminology. Even a nice section of polearms, yari, naginata, nagamaki - over 20 pages on these, which is unusual and appreciated. Well illustrated, with nice photographs (historical photos, blades, mountings), historical artwork, and drawings and diagrams. It's a large format book, so not so portable, but this gives plenty of page space for the photos.
Perhaps the best single comprehensive work to get for the Western collector of Japanese swords!
