About the Author

Kat George grew up in a back-country farming community in New Zealand. She fled to the city at 16, finding odd jobs from heavy transport and bus driving to scuba-diving and horse training. She married briefly at 18, and has never considered repeating the exercise. Leaving New Zealand, she has passed through countless cities and lives, collecting stories, and picking up languages, skills, and degrees in architecture, psychology and English literature. She has been rich and owned houses and fast cars, and has been poor, living on the street, to resurrect once more as a journalist and freelance writer. Kat George currently resides in Northern Europe and is studying runic and early northern belief systems. What drives me on is a desire for a higher realm, here on Earth, where striving brings excellence, where goals are achieved, where paradox brings harmony. One could say it is the quest for spiritual enlightenment that moves me from place to place, or of course it could just be boredom.'

Reviews

"All George's books are set in New Zealand, the country where she was born and raised by Danish aunts which makes this story authentic in its every detail. She has won many writing awards from the James Cook Centenary Medal in 1972 to the National award for Country News Journalism in 1986 and a short story prize in 2001 with World Wide Writers. When George first took the book in her hands she exclaimed: 'it feels good.' - It's a good read too."- R Mellish, on Scent of Summer Magnolia, The Amsterdam Times -- Robin Mellish, literary reviewer The Amsterdam Times, April 2010
