Excellent book. Shows readers how to draft a skirt pattern (easier than you think!) and sew it up. Several different styles, but the basics, including tiered, a-line, straight and wrap around are all covered. Someone with little or no sewing knowledge can follow this book. Also great for those that don't fit easily into commercially made patterns/ready made clothes, as you are drafting patterns to fit your own individual body size.

Gave me the confidence and enthusiasm to open up my mum's old sewing machine and get straight down to sewing. Really easy to read and understand, follows a very logical order, great easy-to-refer-back-to instruction pages and the patterns are so inspiring. Have sewn two skirts in two evenings this week. I don't know if I'll ever buy another skirt when I can now make my own one-offs. Kinda wish I really needed more skirts!

Great! This book gave me permission to do what I always thought I could, make my own clothes without commercial patterns. This is what I wish my mother had told me, I have spent too long dealing with tissue paper!

I am just start to grow interest in sewing but I think this book is just what I wanted. The steps are so simple and the variety of skirts showed making this book so worthwhile (for this price) to have for a beginner like me. You can forget about the pattern making and start making your skirt right away!

This book is so cute that you don't even realise that you are drafting your own skirt patterns. The pictures of course are very enticing which makes it a lovely book just to flip through. What nailed it for me was my 14 year old daughter picked it up and said,"Wow, I could do this". What fun. A handful of excellent instructions and bucketloads of inspiration make this how-to book very attractive. You won't even realise you've learnt new skills! Now if only the authors could write a similar book on raising kids.

I absolutley LOVE this book! It is full of amazing pictures and inspiring ideas for skirts. There are no patterns but the book takes you through making your own patterns based on your measurements! There are suggested fabrics for certain skirts and it teaches you how to do every thing involved including different waist-band types and hems. I have not tried any patterns yet because I can't choose which to start with! This summer I will definately give as many as I can a go.

Fantastic book. Loads of great tips. Instructions are easy to understand. Just made a wrap skirt, turned out beautifully, and competed in about 1 hour. This is my new favouriate book!!

Fantastic book. You do need a wee bit of sewing knowledge... but my school sewing sufficed. It is American so all the measurements are in inches, but I just wrote the metric equivalent alongside the first time I read it.
