Profound changes have occurred in the Australian culture in the last few decades. Changes in the ways Australians raise their children have led to changes in the ways people look for meaning in their lives. Increased access to cars, plane travel, and electronic forms of communication have led to changes in Australians' experience of community. The questioning of traditions has led to changes in the nature of marriage and family as well as the nature of religious faith. The major new challenge for human beings is developing sustainable ways to live and this is likely to impact significantly our patterns of life and thought over the coming decades.
