Alexia Tarabotti is laboring under a great many social tribulations. First, she has no soul. Second, she's a spinster whose father is both Italian and dead. Third, she was rudely attacked by a vampire, breaking all standards of social etiquette. Where to go from there? From bad to worse apparently, for Alexia accidentally kills the vampire - and then the appalling Lord Maccon (loud, messy, gorgeous, and werewolf) is sent by Queen Victoria to investigate. With unexpected vampires appearing and expected vampires disappearing, everyone seems to believe Alexia responsible. Can she figure out what is actually happening to London's high society? Or will her soulless ability to negate supernatural powers prove useful or just plain embarrassing? Finally, who is the real enemy, and do they have treacle tart? SOULLESS is a comedy of manners set in Victorian London: full of werewolves, vampires, dirigibles, and tea-drinking.

"Soulless is a character-driven romp with great worldbuilding and delicious rapier wit that recalls Austen and P.G. Wodehouse." - io9.com
"Deliciously, vampiricly satiric, a tremendously clever, sexy read." --- Karen Marie Moning, New York Times bestselling author
""Soulless" has all the delicate charm of a Victorian parasol, and all the wicked force of a Victorian parasol secretly weighted with brass shot and expertly wielded. Ravishing." --- Lev Grossman, author of "The Magicians"

A really enjoyable book which is so funny because it doesn't take anything too seriously. The way vampires and werewolves have effected history is a revelation and very entertaining.
This is a great novel combining fast-paced adventure, urbane fantasy and a good dose of romance without being overly soppy.
One warning - order the next 2 novels now because you won't be able to wait.
I loved this book. It was so well writen it was such a great twist on old fashioned London. Alexia was born with out a soul, she what the vampires call soulless. lord Maccon (werewolf) alpha of His pack. Alexia and lord Maccon in a bit of a "pickle",scientists wish to find a way to rid the world of werewolf and vampire (supernatuals)by studing them, fist they capture all rove supernatuals killing them by rumnnig extream tests on them finding out what kills them. well Alexia and lord Maccon work together to get to the bottum of this case they can't fight there attractions to each other.
What a joy this novel was to read, kudos to the author. Set in Victorian England we follow the tale of Miss Alexia Tarabotti, a smart independent spinster who has no soul. Ever since the embarassing incident with the hedgehog Alexia has been butting heads with Lord Maccon, head of the local werewolf pack and investigator for the Queen. The two are bought together when Alexia accidentally kills a rather forward vampire. Lord Maccon is determined to discover what is going on, why lone werewolves/vampires are suddenly disappearing and why Alexia seems to be in the middle of it all. Fun, sassy and a neat little whodunnit tossed into the package.
