I think the hype over this book is completely overrated. There are many mistakes. More in the second one. I would not buy this error filled knitting book. No knitter should have to have errors in a book. The company must have rushed it out to print.

This book has been credited with introducing millions of hip craftsters to the wonderful world of knitting. Whether that is true or not, Debbie Stoller's book contains a gold mine of information.
The book is divided into two parts. The first being technical information; from a brief history of knitting, tools of the trade and how to get started, through to shaping, finishing off and how to fix those pesky erros. The second part contains the patterns. These range from funky hats through to jumpers. There are also sewing patterns for needle cases and these are extremely easy to follow. Yes, I have made one using this book!
A wonderful gift for the new knitter, this book also offers so much for those with more experience.

Lots of very cute patterns for a variety of things that young girls and even older women will itch to create. As a crafter who can barely knit, the diagrams and instructions were not clear enough for me to understand, it left me a little confused. I think it would suit a knitter who has already learned the basics and wants to try something a little harder. Otherwise it is a great looking book!

This book makes knitting so SEXY! Stoller is a warm, engaging writer. The book is well-designed and there are heaps of fun and funky patterns. The models chosen look like friendly real urban hipsters, rather than vapid models. The book is easy to use and would be useful for beginners or more experienced knitters. Lots of fun to be had - this book is great value for money.

This is an excellent book for the beginning knitter.
It has great step-by-step (or as they say, stitch-by-stitch) instructions with wonderful clear diagrams. It also has excellent information on how to adjust patterns and sizes.
As you get more experienced you can attempt the more difficult designs offered.
What makes it truly great is that it is modern and funky! The designs are fresh and attractive with great ideas for different types of yarn textures and colours.
