I've found Grudem's Systematic theology very helpful over the years. His avoidance of technical terms (or, where necessary, his clear explanations) make much of this theology accessible. His explanation on the nature and role of the church is particularly helpful. His work is strongly rooted in Scripture. The questions for personal application are a fine addition also. However, unlike a work like say, M.J. Erickson's, where various views are given ample space for explanation prior to the author's opinion being expounded, Grudem's work appears somewhat narrow in places (e.g. his explanations regarding issues of foreknowledge and divine sovereignty).

Nevertheless, this is a good, solid work of great scholarship and heart. A very useful evangelical/charismatic theology for any minister or student to have on his or her shelf.
