Wonderful and whimisical... and for a good charitable cause! Like "Quidditch Through the Ages" and "Fantastic Beats and Where To Find Them" before it, "Tales..." is a cheap but worthwhile addition to any Potter-fan's collection. Some very nice explanations by 'Dumbledore' and another chance for Rowling to have some brilliant tongue-in-cheek moments of satire and plays on words (Professor de Pense-Profounde being my absolute favourite!)

I too was a little disappointed, having preordered the book, to find that the Warehouse was offering it more cheaply. However, I enjoyed reading the tales and commentary. The book is a nicely produced and fun adjunct to the Harry Potter books. It was so significant to the plot of the Deathly Hallows that I found it very interesting to read it at last.

I'm not sure if peoples snarky comments and negative ratings about someone elses review are relative or helpful to the rating of the book.
I'm really enjoying it though and I really needed something like this as I was a bit upset at not being able to read any more wizarding tales after the Harry Potter series ended. :-)

This is a great idea for a Harry Potter book. If you remember this book was left for Hermione in Dumbledore's will and some of the tales were mentioned in the last installment of the Harry Potter series- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I would recommend getting this book and learning some of the old wizarding stories.

Very well written. i like that it all fitted in with HP and the deathly hallows. because if you read the book you read that hermione actually got the book from dumbledore in his will.

Hi
I purchased The Tales of Beedle the Bard to add to my Harry Potter collection and have found it to be enchanting although not as exciting as Harry and Co. Nevertheless it is a good read and one that will interest the grandchidren in our family as I endeavour to encourage them to spend more time with the written word - I hope.

Very easy reading, while different to the HP series, it is still a great read

What Harry Potter collection is complete without Tales of Beedle the Bard?! This is a very cute book and an essential buy for anyone who has read the other books.
It's a very quick read of course well written.
