The book is divided into three parts, with the first one being Tarot 101, which covers "Tarot Basics", "How to Read the Cards", and "Classic Spreads and Layouts".
The second part is "The Writer's Tarot" which includes the sections "Character Creation", "Astrology and Tarot", "Storylines and Plot", "Tarot Journeys", "Setting and Description", "Breaking Writer's Block", and "The Tarot Card Writing Coach".
The third section is "A Writer's Guide to Tarot Cards" which gives more in depth information on the cards, with Major Arcana cards getting a description, "Key Symbols", "Keywords", "Myth and Legend", "Astrological Associations", "Literary Archetypes", "(This Card) and Your Writing Practice", and then a list of "Writing Prompts." There are "Writing Practice"s throughout and several spreads and sample readings, along with various other exercises and information. The back of the book also has a symbolism and terminology glossary.

I have to say it is more than I was expecting. There is so much more there than just using cards for inspiration- it's like a mini course in writing. It really could be a great reference book for writers who don't have previous knowledge of the tarot cards. Writers of all genres could find value in it. Despite not being new to tarot or writing, I like that this book serves both sides equally well. Even if I hadn't read tarot cards before I picked this book up, I would have been able to get a deck and start working with this book. And, even if I'd never had to plan out a story or novel before, I'd be in good hands here.
