This extraordinary, magical novel is the story of Clare and Henry who have known each other since Clare was six and Henry was thirty-six, and were married when Clare was twenty-two and Henry thirty. Impossible but true, because Henry is one of the first people diagnosed with Chrono-Displacement Disorder: periodically his genetic clock resets and he finds himself pulled suddenly into his past or future. His disappearances are spontaneous and his experiences are alternately harrowing and amusing. "The Time Traveler's Wife" depicts the effects of time travel on Henry and Clare's passionate love for each other with grace and humour. Their struggle to lead normal lives in the face of a force they can neither prevent nor control is intensely moving and entirely unforgettable.

THE INTERNATIONAL BESTSELLER IS NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE
Now A Major Film!!!??? As usual the book is far better the film. The book is more often than most on the Whitcoull's Top 100. Read it and you will understand why. Henry is a time traveller in love with a woman who doesn't. This is their love story. Henry travels in and out of Claire's life - at different ages, she keeps a change of clothes handy as each time he turns up he is naked (yes it should have been Johnny Depp in the movie's lead. Read this and you will at the very least loved it. The author has made a brilliant job of making the concept of timetravel believable because of love between a man and his soulmate.
A great book. Something truly different and well written. I love the time travel idea and the conundrums it causes. The author cleverly handles the twists of who has met whom at what point in time.
There are also issues of morality to consider, for example his wife''s obsession with having a baby, despite the obvious dangers.
It's so nice to find a book that's well, written, original and thoughtprovoking. I highly recommend it.
this book is breathtaking. I rate it as one of my favourites, it is so cleverly written. I was dreading the end coming the closer as I loved the characters and wanted their stories to keep going (I hope there is some sort of sequel). A definite must read for anyone who loved 'The Book Thief' or 'The Lovely Bones'. Have your tissues out.
this is the love story of claire and henry, who first met when claire was 6 and henry was forty- some thing, and forge a love that lasts through out time and space. what is so wonderful about this book is that ms niffenegger makes her characters and their plight absolutely believable: an utterly gorgeous book
