Now fully updated, "Top Yacht Races of the World" is a beautifully photographed, exhilarating title featuring the most celebrated yachting events around the globe. Twenty-two events are recreated in all their drama - ranging from the technically challenging to the most physically demanding, including the extraordinary America's Cup and the Admiral's Cup, the great ocean and offshore classics, and the awesome round-the-world races. The book is divided into four sections - Offshore Classics, Ocean Classics, Round-the-World Races and Inshore Races - each covering several events. Stylish maps of the race routes, profiles of amazing feats achieved by memorable sailors and a compendium of the highlights of specific race years ensure that this book serves both as a factual record and visual showcase of the glamour and sheer physical challenge associated with this most demanding of sports.
About the Author
Husband and wife team Sue and Anthony Steward are eminently qualified to write about the world's most prestigious yachting events. Sue has sailed over 10,000 nautical miles while Anthony achieved worldwide fame in 1990 when, at the age of 27, he became the first person to circumnavigate the world in an open craft, the 5.8m (19ft) NCS Challenger. Steward has crewed in the Vasco da Gama race and competed in Australia's Maxi series. In all, he has crossed the Atlantic and Indian oceans seven times each, and the Pacific twice. The Stewards live in Cape Town, South Africa. Foreword by the celebrated and innovative sailor Pete Goss.
