– Customer review on 10/01/2008 The Lonely Planet Guides are excellent small guides that are easy to handle but provide a wealth of information that can't be found in the whole country guides. I really like the highlights sections in the front that cover a mix of well known highlights and some less well known ones. The guides usually cover each main area of the city focussing on sights, accommodation, eating etc...
The Paris guide is no different. The highlights include obvious favourites such as the Eiffel Tower and a boat trip on the Seine, coupled with lesser known ones such as Shakespeare & Co bookshop and the Promenade Plantee (both featured in the movie 'Before Sunset').
The other great thing about the Encounter guides is the 'Snapshot' section. Like a 'Best of' it features subjects such as Markets, Cafes, Shopping etc.. and lists the best examples.
This guide is great for prepping before you go to Paris, to take with you for inspiration, or just having a daydream about getting away from it all.
