If you want a Disneyland Resort guidebook that does it all, this is the one for you! Not only are the authors absolute Disney gurus, but the fun and easy layout of this book make planning your Disneyland vacation as much fun as the vacation itself.
As suggested by its title, the publication is full of detailed information on all things Disneyland. This includes but is by no means limited to transport, accommodation (with a heavy emphasis on the three Disney hotels in the near vicinity), and ticketing options. The land-by-land (and ride-by-ride) descriptions of Disneyland Resort and California Adventure Park are both comprehensive and useful. Many other Southern Californian attractions are also explored in considerable detail, including other theme parks (Knott's Berry Farm, Universal Studios Hollywood, Six flags Magic Mountain, Sea World San Diego, etc) and many and varied other famous landmarks in the LA and San Diego areas. Easy-to-follow and colourful maps are prevalent throughout.
The unique and defining feature of this guidebook is the space dedicated to helping you plan your vacation. Budget worksheets, travel worksheets, packing lists, lodging worksheets, touring worksheets and even meal worksheets all exist within the 282 pages to help you create that perfect holiday. Most can be adapted to suit your own requirements; there is always space to personalise and add your own notes. Conspicuous yellow "PassPockets" at the back of your PassPorter guide help you "plan before you go, keep items handy while you're travelling, and save memories for you return". These are great - very user-friendly and an easy way to plan and record the events of each day. There are additional pages near the end of the book for "Notes & Photos"; these pages are interspersed with the authors' own Disneyland vacation photos (a nice touch) and even autograph pages for you to collect the signatures of those cute little Disney critters. Yes, there isn't much they haven't thought of!
The authors are a husband and wife team who obviously know their stuff. They love Disneyland and their enthusiasm for their subject is infectious. The writing is of an easy style and is quite personal, hence the reader feels like they're already part of the vacation and not on the outside looking in, so to speak. The format used for this guidebook has been tried and tested for many years in the same authors Walt Disney World PassPorter guides, but what a clever concept! And how fortunate that a "Disneyland Resort and Southern California" edition now exists. I highly recommend it for both the novice and experienced Disneyland and Southern Californian vacationer.
