From London to New York, Ewan and Charley chased their shadows through Europe, the Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Mongolia and Russia, across the Pacific to Alaska, then down through Canada and America. But as the miles slipped beneath the tyres of their big BMWs, their troubles started. Exhaustion, injury and accidents tested their strength. Treacherous roads, unpredictable weather and turbulent politics challenged their stamina. They were chased by paparazzi in Kazakhstan, courted by men with very large guns in the Ukraine, hassled by the police, and given bulls' testicles for supper by Mongolian nomads. And yet despite all these obstacles they managed to ride more than twenty thousand miles in four months, changing their lives forever in the process. As they travelled they documented their trip, taking photographs, and writing diaries by the campfire. Long Way Round is the result of their adventures - a fascinating, frank and highly entertaining travel book about two friends riding round the world together and, against all the odds, realising their dream.

These two guys had an idea, they wanted to do something, and they did it. A great adventure story, and perfect for lovers of the series. I loved the book and DVD, and would recommend it to people of all ages. A great laugh at some points, and yet you stil realise that these guys went through tough times. Awesome.
Great adventure tale and a good laugh. They have done what most people only dream of. Written in a way that does not hold back or attempt to make them into anything other than what they are on the road - petty, determined, spoilt, heroic, funny - yep pretty much human like the rest of us. If you want inspiring then Ted Simons "Jupiters Travels" is the one. These guys do have a support team and lets face it money is no object. Looking forward to see Charley Boorman take on the Paris to Dakar. Now that takes a lot of guts...
This is a great adventure book to read about someone else's travels. i saw the series on foxtel earlier this year. i was really impressed with their enthusiam for something so different to do. I loved this book and recommend it to any adventurers who wish they could do something as crazy as these two. Its definetly inspiring
What a journey! I couldn't put it down. The book switches between Charley Boorman and Ewan McGregor's points of view. It felt as if you were riding along side them. No wonder it is an international best seller. As a result I have also purchased 'Jupiter's Travels' by Ted Simon which was one of their inspirations for the trip.
