Readers will be introduced to the basic techniques of fabric twining, a traditional craft that has been around since the 1800s and only reintroduced in the last 10 years. Four extraordinary rug projects with a modern sensibility keep the tradition alive, but then the basics are taken to a new level with three-dimensional items, such as bowls, boxes and baskets, and household items. There are even projects to revamp old chairs and outdoor furniture.

About the Author

Bobbie Irwin has been enjoying a 30-year career in fiber arts. She began weaving in 1973, spinning since 1982, and teaching fiber and textile topics since 1976 and she has taught internationally since 1985. She has also taught at John C. Campbell Folk School 2001-2002 and Harrisville Designs in 2000. She has exhibited her twined fabric art in national shows, and is a certified judge.
