This is exactly as the title promises - a photographic history. The photos are very well chosen and depict some beautiful examples of period costuming. Eye-candy and inspiration galore for the costuming enthusiast here. The book is dominated by the photos, with the supporting text illuminating - but this *is* a picture book - and a lovely one at that.
If bustle gowns make you smile, this book is for you.
