After singing the song to my daughter for years before actually buying the book, this is great! My 4 year old (and my 7 year old) really love singing (rather than reading) this book and doing the actions. My 4 year old makes me sing it all the time now! We take turns reading it and coming up the sounds to accompany the adventure. Absolutley timeless (and ageless). My 12 month old son loves to watch the antics as we go through the story. The board book is also brilliant for little hands. Highly recommend it for littlies.

My 2 year old daughter loves this book. I read it in rhyme and with actions. She copies the action and is starting to know what is coming up and makes the sounds or says the words. A great buy.

My 22 month old daughter absolutely loves this book and even tells half the story as we read it so often. Great thick board book for toddlers fingers and great contrast between black and white pages and colour pages.

We bought this book for my 17-month old son because it was his favourite book at daycare. He does all the actions, and gets so excited when they find the bear. He also learned to say the phrases "oh no!" and "uh-oh!" from the book. Very educational and interactive.

this book has a very good rhythm that is great for children from about 2 years onwards as the rhyme in the book really helps with memory and gives them a sense of adventure they can use in day to day life.

Follow the family as they trek through the wilds in hunt for a bear! They're not scared! But what will happen when they actually do find a bear? You'll have to read this classic children's book to find out. It really is a brilliant little book, and a valuable addition to any children's story book collection.

PreS-K-- From England comes this refreshing interpretation of an old camp hand-rhyme presented in large picture-book format. The setting is the beach and its environs. The cast: five hunters (a man and four children) and a dog, all of whom stalk the furry beast through coastal landscapes, oozy mud, an unlikely snowstorm, and finally, into the cave where they meet the object of their search. And, just as in the old tale, they reverse their steps and, in this version, end up in bed under the covers, vowing never to go on a bear hunt again. The beautiful pastel watercolor paintings that fill the huge pages alternate with soft-textured charcoal sketches. The most impressive of the black, white, and gray drawings is the full-spread storm as it approaches. The final ``reverse'' scenes are small blocks, three to a page in rapid succession, in sync with the rushed pace of the text. Even the endpapers lend themselves to the mood of the tale. In contrast to the sunny beach featured at the front, a lonely bear walks the beach in the moonlight at the back of the book. The characters' faces are round and filled with expression. The rhyme is printed in a large, almost calligraphic typeface that leaps off the page, alive in onomatopoeic expression (``squelch squerch!'' and ``Hoooo woooo!'') and reassurance for young listeners (``We're not scared''). This version adds vitality to Sivulich's more traditional I'm Going on a Bear Hunt (Dutton, 1973; o.p.). Readers and listeners will delight in this imaginative pursuit over and over again. --Marianne Pilla, Upper Dublin Pub . Lib . , Dresher, PA

Beautiful pictures, a great fun story - no wonder this is a classic. This board book version is perfect for my 9 month old who's beginning to find books really fascinating but doesn't have the dexterity to turn the pages carefully. He'll still be reading it in five years time, if not ten!
