Amazing inspirational book, very genuine. Loved every second of it and couldn't recommend it enough!
This book is such a beautiful read. It's hard to put down once you pick it up! Brian writes in a conversational manner, as though he is talking to you gently along the way. I've never read anything like it. I love the sense of humour he dots throughout the chapters. 'Why Goldfish Never Die' led me on a spiritual journey and had me thinking about concepts I've always wondered about but didn't know the scientific background or the 'how' or 'why's' of our minds workings. Consequently, I have learnt a lot more about myself.
The book is filled with beautiful poetry and illustrations which makes the read all the more enjoyable. The book also delves into a personal side of Brian's and it is clear he is passionate about how we live our lives and what really is important in life. I finished the book feeling relaxed, more educated, more self aware and feeling as though I really shouldn't sweat the small stuff! I now look at the world a little bit differently. Thank you for bringing more perspective to my life. LC
Written from the perspective of someone who has found peace, calm, wisdom and purpose through a lifetime of thinking and learning, Why Goldfish Never Die has, to paraphrase the author, rekindled my own efforts to explore and create my own pathways on the journey toward higher living.
With gorgeous artworks brought to life on high quality gloss paper throughout (though not the kindle version, obviously) you can't help but get the feeling that this self published book is a very precious thing indeed, close to the author's heart. A beautifully crafted and intuitive, meandering exploration into the subjects of consciousness and reality, each point is put forward for gentle rhetorical debate before moving on to the next. I loved the way it mirrored my stream of logical thought when considering each statement and its personal relevance to my own life. Every time I thought, "Yes, but what about xyz?" the counter point was right there.
Another reviewer mentioned that the sign of a good book is one that makes you smarter upon finishing it. Why Goldfish Never Die has not only piqued a long cast-aside interest in the teachings of the ancient philosophical theories ("Too busy! Too tired! Not enough hours in the day!") it has shown me another version of my reality in which anything really is possible... not to mention further increasing my vocabulary along the way!
As someone who regularly practises yoga for the physical benefits along with mindfulness and meditation, I've always struggled with how to take the next step to apply it more meaningfully and with discipline in my day-to-day life outside the yoga room. Why Goldfish Never Die helped me make the transition to truly living for now with ease. There is a lovely quote about this that has become a mantra of sorts when I'm struggling to keep things in perspective and shut out the worries of past and present that so often fill my head, to let them go and stay in the comfort of this very moment. "Can you feel how big the space becomes? How it holds all of you...it's bigger than you thought. And it spreads out for just as long as you choose to let your mind stay upon it....just stop what you're doing, let go, and there you are, deep in the midst of it again. Welcome back. Welcome home."
The highlight for me was a gorgeous and totally relatable description of the never-resting quest to repeat the rapture of an out-of-body experience. The author begs the question, "is it worth trying to find?" Just as the reader is guided along the journey of the author's discovery, this book has awakened in me a small flame of wonder, to continue on my personal path of self awakening, and the answer is unequivocally, "Yes."
A lovely poetic insight into the meanderings of the mind. Written in a thought provoking and intriguing style...I just couldn't put it down. It is relatable, inspiring and unique. Thank you Brian for making me appreciate being alive. B
Brian gives us an insightful artistic journey into inner development. its more than just another self awareness book. The book through its progression allows us to let go. The time to live is now.. it questions our existence ,what is, what isn't. First explore ones self, through meditation. Experience being. How fortunate we are to exist, we are survivors. Life is a wonderful gift.. Brian explores emotions and reactions, our actions define us. We have the conscious ability to change.
Our wants and needs vary, but to allow yourself to look deeper, much deeper, maybe our patterns will change. Our dreams and thoughts are real, our version of reality, It provides the opportunity to create.
His writing is a gentle flow that embraces life.. thankyou Brian. hugz Glenn
I was intrigued from the beginning. A book title that we all know to be untrue. It had me thinking what is this all about? I opened the cover and began reading, immediately feeling at ease with the style and tone of the book and the journey it suggested would lie in the pages ahead. A book that spoke to our human desire to be more. I found it to be a powerful collection of thoughts that takes you on a journey with the author and challenges the way you may have looked at life, without ever stopping to consciously question or wonder. A journey that makes it impossible not to explore our perceptions of ourselves and the world we live in and invites us to consider making more conscious and deliberate choices. A reminder that our choices, whether deliberate or inadvertent, shape and mould our personal reality. An insightful book that affirms things really are what we decide them to be and that no matter what happens along the way, and how unquestionably difficult and real some struggles can be, that life is worth living. With an undeniable honesty this thoughtful book combines gentle meditative passages, humour and a life affirming realness that made me want to continue reading. A journey well worth taking.
Why Goldfish Never Die is not just a book, it’s a journey. Come and be guided by intimate and gentle narration, and allow yourself to engage in a journey of shared contemplative awakening, a realization of life within and accept the invitation to explore personally, practices of meditative awareness and physical relaxation that cleave towards an experience of alternative esoteric reality and existential presence.
This book will rekindle the passion to believe in soul and will ignite an expectation of open, childlike wonder that welcomes in all the boundless possibilities that a heightened sense of conscious living brings. It may be that in so doing, you will come to know that it’s not faith we need to move mountains; but simply the vision to realize that such things were never there in the first place.
