A really interesting read with plenty of giggles to keep it light.
Good info that has already helped me change how I think about my eating and exercise. Things I didn't already know!
I did lose the two inches (and two kilos) in the two weeks as promised.
More motivating and less guilt-inducing than most books.
Worth it at the paperback price.

This a fantastic book if you want to know in relatively simple terms just how the foods that you eat can have an affect on your weight, how the fat that you accumulate by gaining weight has an adverse affect on your health and exactly what fats do to your body and how fat effects the functioning of other vital organs. It is a real wake-up call as to just how dangerous it is for those people who carry around a lot of fat particularly around their stomach area and who fall into the overweight-obesity area. Makes you sit up and take notice. There is also has a very good chapter explaining the connections between emotional feelings and food, using food as a comfort and the psychology of failed dieting. Also a good chapter on simple but effective exercises that can be done at home in addition to the daily walk .
Having read all that good stuff, the last section on what to do about having too many inches around the waist would have some readers like myself, a little disappointed. (A). It's full of not very appealing recipes written by Americans using US food brands, tastes and terminology. (When will American authors realise there is a world out there beyond the mighty U.S of A?) For a book as good as this in the first 12 Chapters the last part is a bit of a let-down. Would much prefer knowing which foods to avoid and which to eat and in what quantities. Particularly if you are not a recipe person like me. Written in an up-beat way by two well qualified doctors from the US, it certainly gets down to giving us a detailed understanding as to why many of us have a weight problem. For Australian readers however, there is no website or contact details if one wanted to clarify information on alternatives to the recipes given.

This book has a very good coverage of technical information about how certain foods and emotional conditions can affect our metabolism. Very good reading, have to put it to practice now but it all makes perfect sense. It is written with good humour and some great illustrations to help understand the anatomy of it all. The best diet/health book I have read in a long time. It is more than a diet book, it is a health regeneration book for everyone.

I bought this book on a whim, and am VERY glad I did.
It is a really interesting and factual book about why and how we put on weight - and not just the simple answers.
It shows the benefits of small changes, how to add exercise (easily) into your daily schedule, what foods assist in weight loss (and which don't!) and other such things.
I have read a great many diet books in my time, but found this one to contain info I wasn't aware of, and set out in a funny and interesting way.
Great book - highly recommend!

I actually really loved this book. I found it witty and quite funny in some parts but aside from that the book was very informative and a good read. I would recommend it to people who don't want any of the Jargon that's hard to understand but an easy to understand guideline of what happens inside your body and what you should do about it!

I loved this book. It was really easy to read, sat down and did it in a couple of hours. Full of really interesting information about combining the right foods for the good of your body. It's written in plain English - even though they are talking about quite complex things (such as heart health), you can understand everything they say. I found the first few weeks I followed the diet, I lost quite a bit of weight, and did not feel hungry!
