The movie was in its own way a good attempt at reviving the Yogi bear legend. And it was a good way to get a new audience introduced to the lovable bear that my generation grew up with watching on TV.
"Yogi Bear" delivers a fairly average story if you are familiar with the old TV cartoons. But for newcomers, then I am sure this story will be cute and adorable, with lots of funny moments as the two bears get themselves into quite some predicaments. But if you grew up watching the TV commercials, then this movie is nothing more than a nicely shined up CGI animated version of its old former self.
The cast in "Yogi Bear" is quite good, lots of great names on the list, both for on-screen and also for voice actors/actresses. Dan Aykroyd had a great voice for Yogi, and surprisingly enough then Justin Timberlake also worked well for Boo Boo, though I had initially thought "oh no" when I heard he was the one putting voice to Boo Boo. As for the actual actors/actresses on the screen, then Anna Faris (playing Rachel) was, as always, fun and a delight to behold on the screen. The part of Ranger Smith, played by Tom Cavanagh, was also quite good. I am not so sure whether or not I really liked T.J. Miller (playing Ranger Jones), because he was actually rather annoying on the screen at times.
The effects and CGI animations in the movie were really great, and neat to look at. They had managed to get the bears to come off the screen very nicely. And I especially liked the frog-turtle, it was one of the better parts of the movie, despite it having a small role to play. It both looked cool and had lots of fun to add to the movie.
In overall, I found "Yogi Bear" to be a mediocre experience for me personally, but I am sure that kids and youngsters everywhere will find this new take on Yogi to be quite entertaining and fun to watch. There are lots of fun moments throughout the movie.
