The story of two animals and their adventures. Milo, the cat, and Otis, the dog, are two animals who grew up together on the same farm. One day, the two are separated and begin a journey to find each other. The adventurous, and often perilous quest finds the two animals traveling across mountains, plains, and snow-covered lands searching for one another.
I just purchased this movie for my 6 yr. old niece today and now I am debating whether or not to give it to her after watching it myself. I remember as a young girl loving this movie but now as a vet tech I am so glad that a movie like this would never make it to film. The bottom line fact is that the movie is cruel and without a doubt animals were harmed. The cliff scene took my breath away; you can tell they used a real cat! I read on the back of the dvd that it took the production crew 4 years to complete the film. I have seen terrified, cold and abused animals come into my clinic and the multiple animals that were USED for this movie were no different. It broke my heart to see how scared these animals were! I donít know what Iím going to do with the movie now; I feel bad spending the money on it. If you have your doubts, watch it for yourself if you haven't seen it in a few years.
I love this movie!!! It's so cute. Being an animal lover (and a softie) I did cry. It's about a little kitten called Milo and a pug dog called Otis who are good friends. Then one day they are separated and so begins the journey to find each other. It's adorable. Enjoy.
this was one of my first movies as a child along with the wizard of OZ. gosh watching that triler just brought me back to watching this as a child. one of my fave movies. will deffinitely yhave to buy it on here soon
I bought this as a birthday present for a 3 year old and he absolutely LOVES it. Has watched it many many times and lives the adventures with Milo & Otis, so cute. Besides Milo & Otis there were a number of other animals that were great for a child to see -possibly for the first time. Its also a movie that can be played over and over and not get annoying for parents as some childrens dvds can be. Very enjoyable, for kids or adults.
Our two eldest grandchildren (aged 6 and 4) just loved this movie, as did their grandparents. It was too long for our three year old, but our bouncy teo year old loved bits of it, esp. where the bear is mearly knocked out by a fishing float (?) whilst trying to catch Milo. All four recognised many of the snippets of classical music that formed the soundtrack of this delightful movie. Highly recommended.
I read once where it took the filmmakers four years to make this movie. I don't doubt it. It must have taken great patience to wait and train these animals to do some of these amazing scenes. Where have you ever seen a cat nursing on a pig or a dog hitching a ride on top of a sea turtle, etc.?
There are some incredible scenes involving a number of animals. The scenery here is pretty, too. All of the above means that adults should enjoy this as much as the kids. There is nothing offensive in this nothing....nothing.
Dudley Moore's storytelling narration is a bit annoying in the beginning but settles down and is just fine, even humorous in spots. Overall, he did a credible job. The movie is short but actually could have been better had it been trimmed another 10 minutes to about 80. If you love animals, you really have to check this film out. Even if don't, the footage is so unique it's worth a look.
This is one of those classic movies which I certainly liked as a small child. Nice once or twice for animal-loving adults also. The story is relatively straightforward but not boring and the animals are adorable. I'm not sure if the urban myths about animal cruelty in making the movie are true or a fabrication. Definitely a good movie for cat or dog loving children.
I believe that this movie come out about the year i was born. All i can say is even at 21 i still love this movie has its sad moments but worth the watch i love milo and otts when they have their family so georgous little kittens and puppies. Excellent movie for the family if you havent seen it highly recomment that u grab it and watch it you will become hooked as soon as it starts thats if you are a animal lover.
I cannot rave enough about this movie! I loved it as a child and I continue to love it now. The movie doesnt try to make the animals seem like they are speaking and I find this refreshing. To see real life animals in their natural enviroment is A very rare occurance these days, this is a movie that could never be reproduced and for that reason alone I believe that everyone should watch it.
The only thing I can fault with this movie is the narration by dull and dreary Dudley Moore.
Milo & Otis the great adventure of enduring friendship between a curious cat and a pug nosed pup. Before the world of animal movies was over run with CGI there were masterpieces like this.
A sweet family favourite for the whole family. A must for your collection.
