Synopsis
Patrick Bateman is a high powered Wall Street executive rich, handsome and highly intelligent. In many ways he's just like everyone else enjoying the excesses of America in the 80's. But unlike his colleagues, Patrick prefers murders and executions to mergers and acquisitions! Christian Bale gives a razor sharp performance as the yuppie killer in this the long awaited film version of one of the most controversial novels ever published. Also starring Willem Dafoe (from THE ENGLISH PATIENT), Reese Witherspoon (from CRUEL INTENTIONS), Jared Leto (from FIGHT CLUB) and Chloe Sevigny (from BOYS DON'T CRY), AMERICAN PSYCHO is by turns hilarious and horrific - an acclaimed, original piece of movie making that you must see and will not forget.

Patrick Bateman is handsome, well educated and intelligent. He is twenty-seven and living his own American dream. He works by day on Wall Street, earning a fortune to complement the one he was born with. At night he descends into madness, as he experiments with fear and violence.
wow this movie was quite good to be honest. u could see it AHAHHA
Christian Bale gives it his all in this thriller that borders on horror about a business man who has a tendency for killing people. What starts out as being a couple murders here and there turns into a bloodbath as he tries to keep his secret. Some will enjoy this film and others hate it, and its biggest flaw is that it tries to end in a twist, but doesn't really work.
Patrick Bateman, a young, well to do man working on wall street at his father's company kills for no reason at all. As his life progresses his hatred for the world becomes more and more intense. Based on the book by Bret Easton Ellis.
Classic! One of my favourite movies of all time! 5 STARS – No DVD collection is complete without this title amongst it. Powerful performances, superb production value with strong clear direction… a masterpiece. A must see for all movie fans, some might not agree with me but this film with live on for many years after the actors have all but been forgotten!!e!
The story line sounds promising - the whole serial killer looking like a normal and successful person but the actual film didnt seem to deliver. Even though it had high profile actor in it like reese witherspoon it didnt come together all that well but still worth watching
lol well this is a werid movie... ummm i thought it would be way more scary that it was...it was just kinda weris...it was funny at times although a doos thriller shouldnt be funny it should be full of scares and stuuf.. i would have ot give it just a five out of ten.
This movie stars some great actors such as reese witherspoon but it just didnt quite cut it in my opinion. The story line is a nice concept but it just wasnt as scarey as i would have hoped. Has a few twists but is ultimately quite predictable. Although American Psycho is action packed which is always good.
Mary Harron delivers yet another amazing movie, the movie is a satire, and most fans of the book are dissapointed by it.
This film does not equal the violence of the book, it concentrates on satirising the 80's and it does so well. Bale is perfect as Bateman, how his girlfriend sleeps next to him at night I do not know. If you love this movie I suggest you invest in getting the killers unedited edition from amazon.com it comes in a nice sleeve and has bonus deleted scenes, a documentary on the 80's and commentarys
I love the book, but the film is worth a view, and take it in as a comedy, this book would not work as a film in regards to the violence, it would simply not be allowed to be viewed.
lol i thought this movie was actully quite funny, as well as realy horrific and brutal. i reccommend this to anyone who likes a thriller with a sharp edge. there some reallly horrific scenes through out the film. i would properly give it a eight out of tne becuase i did find it abit boring at times but apart from that it was a good film
When i first heard Christian Bale was to play the role of Pat Bateman, I shuddered. An Englishman in such an American role? Never! however, I was pleasantly surprised. Bale plays a psychopathic narcissist almost disturbingly well, and manages to bring forth the mood of the book - ridiculous violence sprinkled with black humour - and makes it his own. It was also nice to see Reece Witherspoon play a not-so-good-girl for once, while Chloe Sevigny is pretty much the perfect personification of Bateman's secretary. Not one for the kiddies!
