This is an excellent series to watch on DVD, and so much better than having all the ad breaks provided by TV. As a child of Dutch immigrants, who grew up in occupied Holland, I've never really understood the appeal of war movies/stories. I'd heard enough about the other side, from my Mum and Dad, and could see no glory in what they went through. I was very pleasantly surprised, however, to find myself thorough enjoying this series. The characterisation was excellent and the cinematography very well done. Yes, there is some gore, but it isn't gratuitous. In fact it makes me all the more humbled by what the armed forces endured, and deepens my sympathy for those who were expected to pick up their lives when they returned home as if nothing had happened.

At times harrowing but utterly engaging. Each episode starts with interviews with the real-life people the characters are based on, giving the series a lot of realism.
Definitely worth watching.

Excellent docu-drama series. Bought it for my elderly father who has an intrest in war history and with the help the captioned/subtitles, he watched one disc after another almost non stop. Followed by my husband and my brother and Father-in-law.

The title speaks for itself,Band of Brothers is a real insight to the friendship men found in war times .Their courage was incredible ,mateship and troubled minds resulting from dreadful conflict against their enemy.Easy company was a family so to speak. Would recommend this movie for any-one to view. I usually find war movies hard to watch but this different, there was some difficult moments but still enjoyed

A mature World War II drama with action scenes. Enjoyable for those interested in realistic war stories. Realistic to the point of being sad at times and occasionally gruesome. Perhaps upsetting for younger or especially sensitive viewers. Thoughtful, well acted and well directed. Based on true stories and including brief introductions from the (now elderly) survivors. The chronological experiences of a highly decorated American paratroop unit - Easy Company. Focussed especially on the relationtionships between the men and their officers and the effects the battlefield has on them.

I usually avoid American war movies and because of that, I was hesitant to take the opportunity to view 'Band of Brothers' when it was offered. I was surprised to find it a superbly made movie/series without the usual over-the-top gung-ho nonsense that Hollywood seems to think we all must endure and as a bonus, it is historically correct. Once started, my (adult) son just couldn't leave it and viewed the entire series in a single sitting.
I couldn't give 'Band of Brothers' any higher commendation - I enjoyed it immensely and just had to have my own personal copy. Top value at the current price too.
