Bond is back.
I always felt that the essence of Ian Fleming's Bond was captured by Sean Connery, and since then the focus was more on gadgets, repartee and the spectacular. This latest version is more 007 - licenced to kill - with a bit of mongrel in there. There is still the humour and gadgets(minimal), but the focus is on Bond doing his job.

When I heard that Pirece Brosnan wasn't going to be James Bond anymore I thought this movie would suck. But about ten minutes into the movie I was proved wrong. This is now one of my favourite James Bond movies of all time.
I love all the card gamesand I got so caught up in the action scenes.
This is a brilliant movie!

Right when you thought that James Bond movies are getting cornier and cornier by the movie, this one comes along and re-deems your faith.
This movie is the prequel to Dr No, showing 007's beginning as a secret agent and the events that lead up to make him the James Bond that we know. It shows a much more emotional and human side to James Bond, far from the smooth womanising one that we have come to know from his other movies.
Hopefully they will bring out more James Bond movies to this theme, if they do I will definitely buy them. Otherwise, it will be a graceful end to such an iconic movie figure.

I have to admit being underwhelmed the first time I saw this movie and thought it was just a poker-fest with some poor attempt at being a thrill ride. A second viewing put paid to those notions, as I came away with a greater appreciation for the changes in Bond as a character and also for the action sequences that are so much part of the Bond franchise.
Bond is a much more vulnerable and human character now, and there is something of the SNAG in him, not seen since George Lazenby took the role back in the 1970's. This has given greater depth to the character. Although Daniel Craig is still new to the role, (he doesn't slip into the role with the ease of Brosnan), given time, I think he will mature to it, as he is a fantastic actor.
The best action sequence, I thought, was the running chase between Bond and a Madagascan bomb maker. The moves that the bomb maker made were simply amazing in their algility and skill. The actor who played that role was a true athlete and put Bond to shame. It was a fantastic chase scene, and there was no motorised transport at all!
This is a great new start to Bond and I look forward to a lot of good movies in the future.

This movie is by far the best of the Bond movies. Sure its different than the others in so many ways, but this sort of Bond - which is actually tracing the early days of Bond, have much better action, much deeper stroyline, much more spylike humour (thats sort of serious), and less focus on sex and women. This is a great movie to watch, although the end gets quite drawn out - although with a twist.
