I am a 17 year old girl who you would nto expect to like these dvds. but i really enjoyed them. it has be the ebst war series/dvds i ahve evr seen. each dvd is packed with so much pain, love, action and history. The part i remember the most from this dvd set is when the soldiers go into a constration camp, the scens were just so horrific that it really made ya think, A+++++, i highly recommend this set!
I thought these were an absolutly fantastic series! Brilliant acting and relly well written. It showed the hardship of war and how the men of easy company pulled together and get through it all. It is a moving series and shows the horrible reality of war. The effects are stunning, the sets and props were great. It is one of the best war movie I have ever seen.
Awesome 10 part mini- series co produced by Steven Spielberg & Tom Hanks... follows the adventures of men from Easy Company, part of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, U.S. 101st Airborne Division... a superb production that, in the tradition of "Saving Private Ryan", leaves one under no illusion as to the horrors and confusion of war... its brutal, harrowing and honest look at conditions during WWII is in complete agreement with Wilfred Owen's famous poem:
My friend, you would not tell with such high zest,
To children ardent for some desperate glory,
The old Lie: Dulce et decorum est
Pro patria mori...
This is an excellent collection to own, tracing the storyline of one group of soldiers in WWII. Filmed and directed very similar to Saving Private Ryan, this movie has all the WWII features and warfare, but with the time to develop storyline and character development, and trace a long period of the World War. The acting is pretty good and storylines decent. Only worth watching if you watch the whole thing - occasional episodes not that tying.
Excellent DVD for the war film lover, band of brothers (although it was TVs eries) without the ads is basicly a war epic showing otnnes of battles and starring a whole lot of people including the guy form friends (david schwimer), seriosuly if oyu like war movies youl love this, and its got a ridiculous amount of hours of war fro the low price
This is unbeatably the greatest war story ever told. based on a true story this series will have you feeling the hard times with the soldiers and celebrating the good times. this film used more bangs, booms, and bonks in one day then 'saving private ryan' used throughout the whole movie. unexplanable how great this is.
Following the D-Day actions of Easy Company, 506th Regiment of the 101st Airborne, "Band of Brothers" mixes interview footage of surviving members with excellently made sections that re-enact and show the major phases of Easy Company's time in Europe.
The entire series covers 5 discs, with a sixth disc of special features. The series itself starts with the training of Easy Company in both the USA and England and follows right through to the liberation of Hitler's mountain retreat. The action is gritty and realistic, with no punches pulled. The conflict itself forms a larger part of the many conflicts individual men face.
The series does not simplify the war, nor does it portray everyone as singular heroes. Every man has his moments that fail to shine, though they are definitely likeable men all.
This is perhaps the best war movie or series that I have seen, and I enjoyed every last minute of it. The special features themselves are excellent, and I enjoyed the added information and context that these give. For enthusiasts of Second World War films, this is a must-have.
Fantastic series, one of the most indepth and beautifully shot war stories I have seen, the story follows the members of Easy Company as they survive the years of the 2nd world war, you will come to love each character, as the story goes into each personality intimately, sometimes funny, sometimes sad, sometimes graphic but all in all an amazing real look at the war through the eyes of the soldiers. I loved the comradship and bravery that these men showed. I have watched this twice and could watch it over and over. This is a war story with guts and shows the great heights of mateship. The series is full of action and will keep you hooked. If you liked the movie "Saving Private Ryan" and love history and the stories of amazing diggers you will love this series. This gave me all those nice warm fuzzy feelings I get when I remember the bravery of our diggers. A must see.
This is basicly a war epic with some bonus features, its in general a very good series, nothing wrong with it and it wa sinteesting to watch while it was on TV, but all in a row it gets really dulll really quickly, thats where war films come in handy, cover the same gorunds in half an hour, still very good series
Who would of thought that a american commercial tv station could produce a drama with such historical impact? This mini series follows the experiences of the easy company paratroupers, and their experiences in europe during World War 2. Sure to please viewers of every demographic.
