Starring Willem Dafoe "The English Patient," Sean Patrick Flanery "Powder" and Norman Reedus "8MM." When the sadistic Russian mob starts muscling in on their South Boston Irish neighborhood, Connor and Murphy McManus know what must be done. Feeling that the vengeance of God is flowing through their veins, they set out to rid the streets of gangsters, criminals and lowlifes. As the body count rises, the brother's become local heroes. Now, one unorthodox FBI agent must be cunning enough to bring them down.
Synopsis
On the streets of Boston, someone's doing the city a big favour and bumping off the Mafia. Locals call the killers "angels" and the police consider them heroes. The hit men, well, they believe they're on a mission from God. And with that kind of backing, these guys think they are unstoppable...With Pulp Fiction-esque humour and Reservoir Dogs type justice, The Boondock Saints is the film Quentin Tarantino could have made - starring Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man), Sean Patrick Flannery (D-Tox), Norman Reedus (Blade 2) and Billy Connolly (The Man Who Sued God) as you've never seen him before.

Very intelligent action movie, about two Irish brothers who kill 'sinners' to punish them. The movie is a bit different from the typical action movie, as it doesn't have car-chases or explosions. The action consists of stylish shooting sprees. It also has a fairly original idea that is utilized in nearly every action scene in the movie, and that should be used more often in action films; first you see the aftermath, the crime-scene, the police investigating, counting bodies, etc. After/as the police come up with theories to the crime, we see the actual scene, of the brothers punishing criminals. It's a different kind of vigilante movie. It's particularly gory and bloody, but this just makes it all the more realistic. In real life, there is a significant amount of blood when someone is shot in the head. The movie has some Christian subtexts, I think I've heard about five major theories about the whole movie's meaning. This shows, in my opinion, that there was obviously a lot of thought put into the movie. I'd recommend it to anyone who can stand the gore, even if they aren't Christians. 10/10
this has got to be one of my favorite movies of all time. its one of those movies that you could just keep watching. its been made wonderfully. its truly an amazing adventure about the 2 mens lives and how they take the law into their own hands. and how the brothers stick together for each other no matter what they are doing.
i highly recommend this movie to all action lovers
5/5
Two Irish brothers accidentally killed mafia thugs. They turned themselves in and were released as heroes. They then see it as a calling by God and started knocking off mafia gang members one by one. Willem Dafoe plays the detective trying to figure out the killings, but the closer he was to catching the Irish brothers, the more he thinks the brothers are doing the right thing
This is one of the films which is not well known at first but soon becomes a cult classic. It stars comedian Billy Connelly in a role i believe is not really suited for him, and i couldnt really take him seriously throughout the film. It isnt overly scarey, but all in all a nice irish film.
um well although i dont think this movie really deserves the cult status that it seems to get. i mean it has some very cool scenes in it and some great lines mainly uttered by willem dafoe but overall its derivative of quentin tarantino and lock stock and two smoking barrels and feels like one of the many films that rode on the coat tails of those great movies.
I think this movie was meant to come across as cult - cool, but it just seems to be a rambling mess... I also have a problem with the ending, which seems to portray violent vigilantism in a positive light, but with nothing of the impact of, say, Bronson's "Death Wish"... one reviewer described it as a "redundant Tarantino wannabe" - I just think it sucks...
one of those cult movies that turns out better than it should this is one of my favorite movies of all time. The acting is good, the humour well written and delivered and Billy Connoly is cast as a humourless murdering psychopath sent out to kill the two sainted heros.
also if you hav ever wanted to see William Dafoe in a dress 9for any reason) this is your movie....
Original twisted little movie about two Irish brothers in Boston who inadvertantly become saints when they decide to rid the town of filth. Pursued by a flamboyantly gay FBI agent the brothers have to take their crusade of justice further and further. With a high body count and a fresh unhinged quality The Boondock Saints is something of a minor classic.
