The nanabots have populated the ship with its original crew. This is especially good news for Rimmer, who is now a lot less dead, but is extremely bad news for everyone else. Locked up on Red Dwarf's prison deck, the crew join the Canaries - a battle hardened convict army and not, as they first thought, the prison choir.

I really do love Red Dwarf, and even though this series went through a whole lot of changes over the course of it's life, I think it always maintained a great level of humour. I recommend this show for sci fi fans, or even those who don't normally like sci fi! There's not really anything else like this show.
This is (I think?) the final season of the weird and wacky Brit sci fi cult comedy series... this time round, the nanobots have 'resurrected' the entire crew, and there are all sorts of weird goings on... this is a long way from the show's original premise, in which Lister is alone with a senile computer, an evolved cat and a hologram... not everyone's cup of tea... it can actually be pretty bizarre...
For most of this, a bunch of nanobots have resurrected the whole crew of the Red Dwarf. Needless to say, the usual suspects gets busted for much bad behaviour and general property destruction, while the rest of the crew was dead. Therefore, they are thrown in the secret brig. Much hilarity then ensues, including a Tyrannosaurus, believe it or not.
Here we find the final series of this TV show as at the time there was thought of a movie in the process and the actors not expecting to be with a TV show for this long needed a break. Sadly nothing has eventuated from this 'break', however the crew gets together one more time here for lots of laughs and hilarity.
By this point the Red Dwarf crew has been reunited with the other previously lost crew members and have to adjust to life without what they thought was being the only 4 beings alive.
The last episode leaves things open for a 9th series but fans are still waiting.
This series was not as good as the previous ones (even series 7 was dying down a bit) but apart from lack of ideas this was still pretty funny. It's best to watch the other series first before getting into this one.
