When Tom Good, a 40-year old draughtsman, and his wife Barbara, drop out of the rat race and become self-sufficient they change their lives forever. To the horror of their neighbours, Jerry and Margo Leadbetter, the Goods turn their lovely Surbiton home into a self-sufficient farm complete with vegetable patches, a goat, pigs and a multitude of hens. The Good Life was a much loved BBC comedy classic from the 70s starring Richard Briars, Felicity Kendall, Penelope Keith and Paul Eddington.
This DVD features all seven episodes from Series 1: Plough Your Own Furrow, Say Little Hen..., The Weaker Sex?, Pig's Lib, The Thing in the Cellar, The Pagan Rite and Backs To The Wall.

Have thoroughly enjoyed watching the Good Life series again after all these years. Took me back to my childhood in UK where we used to all sit down and watch. How apt the storyline is to today with being self sufficient and finding alternative ways to do things.
I loved this in the 70s and was a bit worried that the show may not have stood the test of time. But I still love it!! Tom is hilarious and you can't help but laugh at Margo. I have the whole series on DVD (ordered from England) and my children and I have watched them quite a few times. A new generation of Good Life fans!!
Very popular British TV series that ran from 1975 to 1978... it stars Richard Briars & Felicity
Kendall as a couple who drop out of the rat race and become self-sufficient, bringing in goats and chickens, generating their own electricty, and a whole host of other greenie type activities. Their neighbours are kind, but do not understand... Penelope Keith and Paul Eddington (Yes, Minister) are wonderful as the unbelieving neighbours... delightful comedy from the past...
Oh yes, the good old Tom and Barbara. Living the life of self-sufficient next door to a couple of complete snobs. I have to believe that Tom is one of the funniest actors in this series, and he is determined to ensure that his neighbours snobbery really comes out when he has a garden of complete self-sufficiency, i.e. pigs, chickens, vegetables etc. Definitely worth seeing the whole series.
