The all-new adventures of Rudolph "the most famous reindeer of all" come vividly to life in a major feature length musical with lovable animated friends, an all star cast, and a fresh spin on this timeless character.
Laughed at because of his nose, Rudolph runs away into the North Pole wilderness, where he meets a gentle polar bear (Bob Newhart). When his friend Zoey, an attractive young doe, is captured by evil Ice Queen Stormella (Whoopi Goldberg), Rudolph comes to her rescue and also helps Santa (John Goodman) save Christmas.
This merry mix of music and magic is destined to become a classic with eight original songs plus the Paul McCartney hit (Wonderful Christmastime" performed by Wings and the perennial classic Christmas song "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer".

I like watching Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, I use to watch the older version back in the early eighties, I actually prefer the older version. Anyway it's entertaining for the kids and it's an all round sweet, happy movie. Great for the big kids at heart.
I've seen and loved all of the great Rankin/Bass Christmas shows, and I have most of them on video, but this first one, "Rudolph," is still the best, and still the one that holds the warmest memories for me.
In terms of Holiday atmosphere, it can't be beat. The late Johnny Marks' songs are all winners, and "Rudolph" and "Have a Holly Jolly Christmas" are now firmly established Christmas classics. And holding it all together is Burl Ives' warm, friendly singing and narration. His sincerity and joviality just naturally make you want to "pull up an ice block and lend an ear." I'm now 41 years old, I know all the dialogue practically by heart, and yet I still watch "Rudolph" practically every Christmas. And, what's more, I still love it.
Finally, a word to Julie Landry, of Orlando, on her review. I myself was dyslexic as a child. And yes, I got picked on because of it. But, in deference to your opinion, I see "Rudolph" as a story of how even a perceived outsider can fit in. As a successful Senior Librarian today, I'm living proof that outsiders can succeed. But, then, Rudolph proved that long before I did.
This is a wonderful movie to watch with the whole family at christams time. It is about a raindeer with a red gloing nose who is mocked by all of the other raindeer because of his nose, but in the end santa really needs some help to guide the sley through a terrible winter storm caused by an evil whitch wanting to stop christmas and the only one who can help is Rudolf ofcourse. If you get a copy of this movie you will love, enjoy and sterish it every time you put it on.
A great heart warming children's Christmas classic, you can't get better than a heart warming story about a talking rein deer this beautiful story is a must for any parent who wants there kids to sleep soundly, this movie is really great an absolute must.
A little on the long side to keep the fuull attentaion of a toddler but most pre-schoolers with love it. A great movie to get the kids in the christmas spirit with some great celebrity voices and Whoopi is execllent as the evil snow queen. deviates a bit from the traditional story but the basic storyline is the same as the one we all love.
I grew up on these xmas movies and they were fantastic it is a shame they don't keep them playing, the story is lovely, bright and colourful and wonderful for children, it really shows the spirit of christmas and friends, the story follows rudolph who is shunned by the other reindeer but makes friends and becomes a big help to santa, one of the greatest kids xmas movies ever. A must and timeless
This movie is a great one to buy and pull out in the months leading up to Christmas for children of any age. My 2 year old loves it as does my 10 year old niece. Cute with voices from John Goodman and Whoopi it entertains them and leaves them excited about Christmas. One that can be and will be played over and over again!
