This one won't really be a movie for the very young - whilst I am not adverse to showing youngsters sat stories, it is ones like these that might be best to reserve for kids who can understand some of the deeper concepts... perhaps 8-10 and over. That aside, this is a real classic movie, and well worth getting and enjoying even if you are a grown up.
I don't like a lot of animated movies, but I absolutely loved ALL DOGS GO TO HEAVEN. I found it to be the most touching, funny, and enjoyable animated movie I have ever seen. Itchy was very funny and I loved Burt Reynolds as the voice of Charlie. He was great. I can't wait to buy the movie on DVD!!!
When a casino owning dog named Charlie is murdered by his rival Carface, he finds himself in Heaven basically by default since all dogs to heaven. However, since he wants to get back at his killer, he cons his way back to the living with the warning that doing that damns him to Hell. Once back, he teams with his old partner, Itchy to prep his retaliation. He also stumbles on to an orphan girl who can talk to the animals, thus allowing him to get the inside info on the races to ensure his wins to finance his plans. However, all the while, he is still haunted by nightmares on what's waiting for him on the other side unless he can prove that he is worthy of Heaven again.
This is one of those movies that proves that Disney is not alone in creating animated masterpieces. Sure I grew up with staples such as Bambi, Beauty and tbe Beast, and The Lion King, but I also recollect being hooked on All Dogs Go to Heaven, An American Tail, and The Land Before Time. Don Bluth's films are tragically overlooked. All Dogs Go To Heaven is a movie I still watch and enjoy now that I'm sixteen. It's a story about life and death. And Charlie is a great character because he's like an anti-rolemodel, but by the end, he's learned a lesson and become heaven-worthy. It's a story of redemption and full of heart. Highly recommended for all children. (Some parts may be a little scary for really small children, but parental presence is all that's necessary.)
What a wonderfull movie to enjoy over and over again with the whole family, so join the gang of all dogs go to heaven and find out what really happens when your dogs move on. Come along and have fun with all of the adorable characters on their great adventures.
I like the fact that this movie actually has a lot of depth to it and some important life lessons. The kiddies won't get that at first though, they'll just enjoy seeing the loveable Charlie and his gorgeous little pal Itchy. I remember watching this when I was just a little girl and the message is still strong in my heart today. I still must add this to my collection as I haven't seen it in ages, and I urge anyone else, especially with children, to do so as well.
well i watched this with my younger brother when he was like four and he never really got it. he liked it but mainly because he was allowed to stay up and watch it with me more than the actual movie. i kind of found it a little too sad and kind of deep for childrens movie, so i didnt like it and next time i just watched toy story with my bro.
This movie is so cute and sad. About a dog named Charlie that befriends a little orphan girl and learns the meaning of true friendship. A beautiful children's movie although maybe more directed at the more older child as the littlies might find it a bit much. Great movie for the family to watch.
