I greatly enjoyed this film. It was so in depth and the detail was fantastic. Great for the entire family! Even if your not sure about it at first, just have a look and you are sure to enjoy it. Definitely one of the best movies of all time. I just loved it. it was so fantastically fantastic. highly recommended. yes i enjoyed this very much, and i think that everyone should check it out! fabulous, i give it 5 stars.!!!
Unless you're a die-hard Shirley Temple fan, it would be hard to deny that this was the best version of THE LITTLE PRINCESS ever. Leslie Matthews is superb as Sara, and Liam Cunningham is excellent doubling as both her father, Captain Crewe, and as Prince Rama. The entire cast is wonderful. I love the scenes in the beginning set in India. They set just the right magical mood for the story. I also love the scenes in the attic at Miss Minchin's. They are fun and imaginative. The escape across the rooftops is actually suspenseful in this version - it wasn't in the Shirley Temple film. Most everything is more effective. The Temple version was carrying so much political baggage at the time that it weighed the story down. Thankfully, this one is free to fly. And the ending is far, far more satisfying.
The theme, "every girl is a princess," is universal and timeless, and one that every little girl should hear and believe. And what better way than in this classic tale presented so well by filmmaker Alfonso Cuaron. This is a film for the whole family, and one that I would highly recommend.
A gorgeous Heart Warming story for any age! brings a little magic and reminds us just how important an imagination is. The beautiful colours of India combined with the harsh reality of been a War Orphan in England make this just a beautiful story full of tragedy and beauty. An absolute must have!
Classic! One of my favourite movies of all time! 5 STARS – No DVD collection is complete without this title amongst it. Powerful performances, superb production value with strong clear direction… a masterpiece. A must see for all movie fans, some might not agree with me but this film with live on for many years after the actors have all but been forgotten ,,,
This movie, a little princess, is a great story of a outspoken and courageous little girl, sara, and she is sent to boarding school in new york in america away from her family in india. It is the story of how she survives life at the stifling boarding school and the movie is inspiring, sad, moving and full of values. I would recommend this movie it is really nice and sweet
ohh man i LOVE this movie! its so emotional and heartwarming! really shows how callous some people can be. sarah is played by a really talented actress, you really believe her when she says that all girls are princesses. the end just makes me cry as i feel so sorry for her! this movie is both warm and magical though, and will capture your heart like it captured mine.
THis is a wonderful children's film full of fascinating adult tensions. The reactionary assumptions of the source material remain - the upper class are jolly nice and paternalistic; the bourgeoisie (represented by Eleanor Bron) are grasping, slave-owning monsters; India is not a massive subcontinent rife with internal and anti-colonial divisions, but a bright fantasy world of escape from reality - but the film is full of darkness unusual for such a film: apartheid, child abuse, poverty, the disruptive, harrowing effects of war, the absence of parents. In this way, the film's style, veering between fantasy and expressionistic 'realism' is impressive. The social order may be restored, but the film is full of heartening little revolutions: its ultimate message is, look HARDER.
this is such a charming and heartfelt story. it really makes me cry every time i watch it, as the end pretty mch breaks my heart every time i see it. this is an absolute must watch dvd, the tale is timeless and will really touch you, as sara is played by a really talented girl, who captures her magic perfectly. must see!
