Sweet, small town girl Terri Fletcher (Hilary Duff) just wants to sing. She has big dreams of making a career out of her passion for music, but her overprotective father (David Keith) is reluctant to let his little girl go.
Terri is ecstatic when she is accepted at a prestigious music school in LA, but her joy is soon crushed when her dad forbids her to go. Knowing that it could be her only ticket to the big time, Terri sneaks off to the city with a little help from her cool aunt Nina (Rebecca De Mornay).
But this exclusive music community soon shuns the naive blonde who sports no piercings or tattoos, and Terri learns there's more to becoming a star than just a good voice. Luckily, sympathetic music teacher Mr Torvald (John Corbett) sees her potential, and things are definitely on the rise when she finds love with British classmate Jay (Oliver James).
Even so, there's still one thing standing between Terri and success - her fear of performing on stage. Ever since she lost her brother in a car accident, Terri has been terrified of bright lights. But if she's going to fulfil her dream, Terri is going to have to raise her voice, conquer her fear... and face her father.

This was a great movie. I enjoyed watching every second of it.
This movie is about a girl whos brother dies in a car crash and before he died he sent away an application for her. She gets accepted into the music school where he sent the application. She has to travel to get to this music school and all the time she is pretending to be staying with her aunt because her father can't stand to lose any more children.
This movie has a happy ending. I would recommend this movie for older children who like Hilary Duff.
This is the best movie that Hilary Duff has ever starred in. I have gone off her now that her films are more adult orientated. I especially loved this movie because i am a musician myself and although i can't sing i could relate to Terri's struggles. The music was awesome and i would love to see another musician motivated movie made. The romance was awesome.
This is a good movie about a girl with the passion to sing and her farther is way way over protective of her but she struggles and succeds in the end this is a very empowering move. Loved it and recommend it to everyone who loves movies
gosh!! i really loved this movie! every bit and second of it! it has a great moral and message. its about a girl finding a way to suceed on her dream which is singing. after the horrible tragedy that happend she found herself at a school of teenagers thats busting talent!! she also met this really hot guy that plays the guitar!!
i recommend this movie hundred percent! im sure you and the girls would love this flick and also the family. this movie is a tearjearker, so get out your kleenex and enjoy the awesome songs and fun it will bring!! i truly loved it!!
this was another pleasent film from hilary duff, she plays yet again another cute teen from middle america who strikes tradegy and can sing. the formula is pretty much the same, but hilary is as cute and charming as ever, and really wins over the audience with her smooth acting. this isnt her best work, but its still a good watch.
This movie was a really awful, self indulgent peice on yet another girl who wants to strike it big with her music ambitions, which is a great opportunity to plug the movies soundtrack which includes this almost persons supposed music. Do we really need another one of these 'dreams come true' fluff peices? This was worse than fame, and less original.
Hilary duff plays a small town suburbian girl who loses her brother and finds her voice when accepted to this summer school...for music...all for a scholarship...find if she gets the scholarship. but her voice isnt all she finds....she finds friends, love and heartbreak...how does she deal? watch and find out..
enjoy
i thought that this movie was sooo sad and romantic at times. definitely another chick flick. i love how the violinist does the cool sounds with her violin that was soo awesome. if you have a night in with the girls this would be the movie to watch even if it does get a bit mushy on us LOL
This is a pretty predictable movie from start to finish, even the death scene is pretty basic. But if you are a fan of that generic pop movie with Hilary Duff, then you will probably like this one, as it has similar stories to all her other movies, girl is perfect, girl has trouble, girl must solve problem.
Seriosuly, i really dont know why hilary duff insists on making movies, she sucks as an actor and as a result always gets really crappy parts, this is hilary duff making nothing of a nothing part... yet again, i do not recomend this, not even to fans of her
