Absolutely hilarious movie!!
The way the Martians s go about their work of taking over the Earth while going Ack Ack Ack (we come in peace) while disintegrating everything in sight, is a scream.
A star-studded cast makes it quite compelling to watch as well, with each star taking on a role that is both in and out of tune with their normal roles, also makes it worth watching. Very entertaining!!
A brilliant ode to all that was great about B grade science fiction and horror films from around the 1950s, and the only good Tim Burton film I can recall, Mars Attacks! was based on a series of trading cards from Topps! Comics. Features a stellar cast, most of which are killed, as freaky looking martians invade Earth. A classic comedy.
Mars attacks is a classic movie, scraed the hell outa me when i was young but now i look at it and just cant hepl but laugh, its so funny, the graphics are so cheesy but thaty jst makes it that little bit funnier, finishes it off well, gottas love how the aliens die aye, classic
You don't sit down to see Marks Attacks expecting to see anymore than a hilariously impossible irrelevant film about "what would happen is aliens came to earth". Saying that I think this movie delivers 110%... it is hilarious from start to finish and is very entertaining.
After reading some of the other comments, there's only one thing everyone should keep in mind. This film is for laughs and is spoofing the early 50's sci-fi films that some of us grew up watching. In the early film, War of the Worlds, the Martians were killed by micro organisms that were in our atmosphere. Here they were killed by Slim Whitman music. How about when the Martians were chasing people and zapping them while the "translator" machine keep saying "Don't run,we are your friends". The Martians like Tom Jones so much that they joined his back up singers. Every time I watch this film I see something else that's there for a "joke". Don't try to make this movie fit the sci-fi mold; just watch it for the spoofs and enjoy yourself.
This movie is just straight out quirky from the start to the hilarious ending. The aliens are like deranged lunatics and well the main characters have their little quirks also. The sets, makeup and effects of the movie carry and fit it very well. This is the sort of movie that could do well with a sequel or as a mini series, it’s just good fun for all.
I thought that this movie was so funny. Of course it was stupid. and so it looked like a B-grade movie. but it was supposed to. why else would it be star studded. actors like them wouldn't act in a movie like this if they thought it would be seriously done. it's a movie that was made to be dumd so that you could laugh at it.
I don't know why this movie was made. It seemed like an excuse to make a B-grade alien invasion movie with lots and lots of cameos thrown in for recognition more than actual acting skills. No-one puts in a memorable performance and you don't feel any attachment to anyone no matter who dies. If anything, it's watchable just to see parts of the world get blown up, and that's about it.
Stupid Tim Burton directed comedy / science fiction film based on the very poular - and violent - card series of the same name... The cast is phenomenal: Jack Nicholson, Rod Steiger, Glenn Close, Annette Bening, Jim Brown, and Tom Jones as himself! It has a 1950s B-movie feel, with a pretty lavish, big budget look--- I just didn't find it funny...
a very very silly movie which is quite cool to watch if your not expecting anything amazing. stars an absolute huge cast of some of the biggest stars in hollywood now or ever. has some great scenes and some very kooky and funny things like almost every tim burton film, not a classic like edward scissorhands or ed wood but still worth a watch.
