This film and "Blazing Saddles", plus the earlier "The Producers" were the high watermark of Mel Brooks' career. What makes "Young Frankenstein" work so well is the attention to detail: the film looks fantastic, the cinematography and set design creating a wonderfully "straight" atmosphere for all the humour that follows. Feldman is great, Kahn deliciously absurd and the late, great Peter Boyle steals the show as the monster. A wonderfully funny film.
