The Brittas Empire centres around the disaster-prone Gordon Brittas (Chris Barrie). As manager of Whitbury New Town Leisure Centre, Brittas seems to have a natural talent for total chaos. Far from implementing his ideals, the staff and members of the leisure centre find themselves faced with a series of riotous mishaps.

Synopsis

When the gifts of management and diplomacy were handed out, Gordon Brittas was definitely last in line. The consensus is that hes misguided, maladjusted and very probably mad - something that the staff and customers of the new Whitbury New Town Leisure Centre are about to experience first hand. Episode 1Gordon Brittas has been appointed as the new manager of the Whitbury New Town Leisure Centre. He arrives to find an efficiently run building, smiling staff and the builders just adding the finishing touches - until they receive his pep talk. Episode 2Gordon is anxious that the official opening ceremony will be a success. Unfortunately, not everything is fully functional and with Gordon in charge things go from bad to worse. Episode 3Brittas finally finds out about Carole keeping her baby in the desk drawers and orders her to remove both it and herself. Unfortunately, the baby goes missing and the distraught mother goes berserk with an axe. Episode 4The leisure centre swimming pool has been chosen by two members of Whitbury Diving Club as the location for their underwater wedding. Not everything goes to plan and Brittas cannot understand his bad luck. Episode 5Following a spate of petty theft, Brittas is convinced that one of the staff is responsible. When his initial attempts to find the culprit fail, he decides to hide Colin in a locker in the ladies changing room as a spy. Episode 6Visitor attendance at the leisure centre is down to forty-three, so Brittas designs some special offers to attract customers. But he may have underestimated a man in black who is stalking the centre with the intention of killing him.
