When free-spirited petty crook Randle P. McMurphy (Jack Nicholson) arrives at the state mental hospital, his contagious sense of disorder jolts the routine. Soon he's on one side of a brewing war; soft spoken, coolly monstrous Nurse Ratched (Louise Fletcher) is on the other. At stake is the fate of every patient on the ward...
Milos Forman's electrifying adaptation of Ken Kesey's acclaimed best seller swept all five major 1975 Academy Awards: Best Picture (produced by Saul Zaentz and Michael Douglas), Actor (Nicholson), Actress (Fletcher), Director (Milos Forman) and Adapted Screenplay (Lawrence Hauben and Bo Goldman). Raucous, moving and with a superb cast that includes Brad Dourif, Danny DeVito and Christopher Lloyd in his film debut, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest simply soars.

this movie was great, much better than the book. although it did not mention a lot of things in the novel, the movie was much easier to follow, and i greatly enjoyed watching it. i watched it in english class, and the lot of us found it much more interesting to watch, rather than try to struggle through the book.
Powerfully emotional film about a slacker who fakes having a mental condition in order to avoid jail and stay in the more luxurious institute, which is run by an iron fisted nurse. When the two characters collide his rebellious nature comes out to oppose her. Those who have seen the film don't need to be told how great this is.
This movie is excellent and one of Jack Nicholson's best roles. It is very close to the book it is based on, just lacking the inner thoughts of the big indian. But what is missed there is made up in Jack's acting and the cinematography that makes the movie almost as powerful as the book. It is an old movie but classicly impacting. Worth owning and discussing with friends.
a real must see! got a lot of critical acclaim, and was revolutionary in the way it dealt with people in a mental home. this stars jack nicholson who comes into the mental home thinking that he is getting a break from jail. instead he encounters the tyrannical nurse ratched, played by louise fletcher. a must see, really touching film with superb acting.
this is based on the book by the same name, but it is a little different. ken kesey did not want to see this movie as he felt that it was not true to the book, so beware of that if you are a fan. i myself think that they did a good job with this sotry, and that nicholson plays one of his most liked roles. excellent casting, i really recommend this movie as a must see!
