So it is with great excitement that they read in the local newspaper that a resident of their little town is a lucky ticket holder. It doesn’t take too long before Jackie decides that he and Michael becoming friends with the winner could be a lucrative relationship. After several unsuccessful attempts at finding the winner they eventually discover the lucky soul: Ned Devine. Unfortunately for Ned, he’s dead from the shock, with the ticket still in hand and smile on face. Jackie, terrified at the thought of losing the winnings after being so close hatches a plan to impersonate Ned and collect the fortune. All goes well until the Lottery representative turns up to check the claim! Synopsis When Ned Devine dies from shock after winning the lottery, two long time friends, Michael and Jackie, discover the body and agree Ned would want them to benefit from his good luck. Yet another great British movie - they really know how to make a simple premise into something special. I loved the story, the setting and the main characters - whoever did the casting did a superb job. It's movies like this that deserve Oscar nominations. Thoroughly enjoyable, family friendly.

This is a lovely 1998 comedy, in which an entire village try to pretend that the local winner of the national lottery - Ned Devine, whose died from shock at seeing he's won - is still alive so the village can share the money. A wonderful cast of zany and eccentric characters help to make this little British film a delight... and watch out for the naked old man on the motorcycle!

i really loved this comedy. It was just soo fuuny. i have always liked european comedys but this one has to be right at the top of my list. It is just such a cute story line and all the charcters are just soo funny and orgianl. Its ten out of ten for this one definalty!! I recommend it to everyone!

This is a really really good irish comedy. Laughs from begining to end, I couldn't imagine anyone of any age not liking it. Everyone should have this DVD in their collection, there is also another one, I think its called the matchmaker, is quite similar and very very good as well. If I could give it ten thumbs up I would
