In 1996 Tulsa, teenagers come two ways. If you're a "soc" you've got money, cars, a future. But if you're a "greaser" you're an outsider with only your friends ... and a dream that someday you'll finally belong.
Francis Coppola's powerful film of S.H. Hinton's classic novel captures how it feels to be caught between childhood's innocence and adulthood's disillusionment. The ensemble is a Who's Who of young talents of the past tow decades: Matt Dillon, Tom Cruise, Emilio Estevez, C. Thomas Howell, Diane Lane, Patrick Swayze, Rob Lowe and Ralph Macchio. Movingly and in an intensively visual style, Coppola has made there street rats and their struggle heroic ... and unforgettable.

A good book to read if you love the "cross the tracks" type of stories. The movie does the book justice and never goes of track as so many book to movies tend to do.
The cast made up of brilliant actors in todays standards bring to life the story of a coming of age group of boys who with the structure of society learn what lifes about.
This is my most favourite movie of all time.
Based on the book of the same name by S.E.Hinton, it stars so many of today's big names including Tom Cruise.
The movie stays true to the book and tells the story of a group of young greasers in particular Ponyboy and Johnny (C.Thomas Howell and Ralph Macchio). Even Susie Hinton herself has a starring role,.In my opinion it's also one of Francis Ford Coppola's finest productions.
Love it. Loved the book, and the movie is almost a perfect carbon copy of it. Staring many of todays big names such as Tom Cruise, Matt Dillion, Patrick Swayze and Emilio Esteves, this is beautiful tale of the two sides of town, one belonging to the Socs and the other to the Greasers. A Classic and a must see, or read.
