Law and Order is definately one of those timeless TV series that can be watched and enjoyed years and decades after it was made. Can be enjoyed by all ages. A quality drama with good writing, interesting twists and good acting. This first series stars Chris Noth - who is now seen on Law and Order CI. All in all - an excellent buy, focuses on the arrests of crimials and their trials.

Law and Order is my favourite cop show ever - and if you haven't seen it before it is about time that you do. If you haven't caught it before, Law and Order covers a case (or sometimes two) per episode, starting with the crime, and then the investigation that follows. Each story is generally stand-alone, though watching them in order does help you to pick up on changes with the detectives and such. All in all, a great series, and a must-have boxed set.

I'm new to the L&O DVD Collecting hobby.

"Law & Order: The First Year" is a must-have for your TV DVD collection. It includes people who would later appear in the incarnations of the L&O franchise: Dann Florek (who would later be a part of L&O:SVU), and S. Epatha Merkerson (who would later join the cast of L&O in Season 4).

Overall, the episodes are great and I can't wait to purchase Season 2!
