this is a really interesting story, about the political revolutioner che guevara. stars newcomer gael garcia bernal, and he really proves that he is one to watch, as he has a skill for really taking on the character. this film is both realistic in setting and character, and its good to get more of an insight into the cult figure, as most people just hop on the che train without knowing much about the man himself.
It’s always interesting to see the story of a person as they develop the characteristic through experience to inspire passion and purpose. This movie in particular tells the story of a young man Che Guevera who doesn’t seem like he has too many aspiration and shows how the seeds are sown that make him the revolutionary that he becomes. Apart from this it is also a pretty good movie.
Che Guevera's story is contextualised with this earlier account of his travels, as written by Gonzo journalist Hunter S Thompson. Here the poor young doctor and a friend find adventure, and a broken down car in their first trip away from the comforts of their lives, their familes and girlfriends. Its only through this that they connect with the real country.
