Colin Farrell (Hart’s War, Minority Report) garnered a Best Actor award from the Boston Society of Film Critics for his star-making performance in this riveting, action film from acclaimed director Joel Schumacher.
Just released from the base stockade, brash, charismatic recruit Roland Bozz (Farrell) joins a platoon of young soldiers preparing to ship out to Vietnam. Bozz’s independence and outright defiance draws fire from his own men as well as commanding officers who can’t afford conflict in the middle of a war. But when the platoon is sent to Tigerland, a hellish training ground that is the last stop before Vietnam, Bozz’s leadership and character brings his men together – triggering extraordinary consequences.

For a movie that is primarily about the Vietnam war but never actually gets there (Hope thats not a spoiler!) it is surprisingly good.
Colin Farrell actually does a good job in this film portraying a young man with a distaste for authority. Bozz (Farrell) is an interesting character not just the stereotypical rebel but this guy has brains as well.
The lack of true Vietnam action is offset by the way the story is told through the changes in persona, the development and maturing of the principle characters. There is a lot of conflict and enough craziness to keep any skeptics entertained. I especially liked the performance of Cole Hauser even though it is somewhat brief.
