Even if you don't like Brad Pitt you will recongise a geat actor in a great film. Based upon 3 brothers and their father, it shows the differences and similarities in their wants. One women links their lives and fate in a tragic and epic dance through time. A film that you know will end tragically and no one will have a happy ending. Loved this film.

this had the potential to become an epic film, but unfortunately lacked just that extra little bit of magic that makes an ordinary film extra ordinary. i think the problem was that there was too much story crammed in to too little screen time, the acting from brad pitt and antony hopkins was no doubt amazing though.

The best thing about this movie is the steaming body of a young Brad Pitt. It's sad because this movie has the potential to be great, it's adapted from a set of books I believe, and given enough time could've evolved into a truely stunning saga. However, there was simply too much story and too little time to cram it into one film, and what's left is half-developed characters and futile attempts to tug at heartstrings.

Brad Pitt is very hot in this movie, probably because it was one of his early ones. It's a long drawn out movie and it's easy going along with no serious story line other then the lifes of the brothers and women in there lifes, well just julia ormond!!
Set in the late 1800's-1900's, it;s one to watch when you want a look at Brad Pitt!!

Really tedious pretentious waffle that tries to masquerade as a lush epic. Ok, so ther is a certain heavy glossiness to the imagery and the scenery is quite pretty but thats as far as it goes. The story plods, the characters are obnoxious and the performances uninspired. Incredibly boring and pointless, it just goes on and on and on and it impossible to care less.

Apart from the handsome Brad Pitt, I didn't get much out of this film at all. In fact I thought it was way too long and I thought the second half in particular started to get ridiculously far-fetched. It made me a bit sick that the three brothers all slept with the same woman, how incestual! Anthony Hopkins was the only talented thing about this film. Definitley an over rated movie.
