Set against the sweeping vistas of Wyoming and Texas, this film tells the story of two young men, a ranch-hand and a rodeo cowboy. When the pair meet during the summer of 1963, they unexpectedly forge a lifelong connection that brings complications, joys and tragedies - and proof of the endurance and power of love.
The world which Ennis (Heath Ledger) and Jack (Jake Gyllenhaal) have been born into is at once changing rapidly and yet scarcely evolving. Both young men seem certain of their set places in the heartland, yet hunger for something they can't articulate.
Although the two follow different life paths - one becoming a father of two and the other becoming a successful businessman - they reunite years later. Each is affected profoundly by the rekindling of their old feelings for each other, leading them to consider what continuing their hidden relationship could cost them.

I thought this was a great movie - I watched it with my husband and he found it difficult to watch at first but eventually once he started ignoring his homophobia he found it a very insightful movie. For myself I thoroughly enjoyed it and thought the acting was fantastic
I have to admit, I was hesitant about this one. I mean, gay cowboys? Not usually my thing...At the persistent wheedling of a friend, however, I agreed to at least sit through the first half hour...and that was it. Ironically, I enjoyed it more than she did in the end. I'm a sucker for romance, I guess!
Sensitively directed, wonderfully acted and an all-round great movie, the only thing it lacks is a slightly more active storyline. Slow and deceptively simple, this is definitely not a feel-good film but whether you like it or not it's one of those stories that will open your eyes and really make you think. The ending is somewhat abrupt - without giving away the plot, however, I have to say that this is a great choice on the director's part, as it really underscores the emotion of the piece.
this movie has a very good storly line and has a really sensational love story going on i enjoyed every minute, second of it. if your the person who loves to get there heart flutter by sweet words then this movie is for you.
brokeback mountain has the 2 finest guys in h0llyw0od. has a very good story and i recommend this to every one!
Wow, fantastic cinematography. Quite slow paced story. Well developed characters, can't say too much about the script because Heath Ledger mumbled to such an extent I often had no idea what the hell he was saying. A story of homophobia, love and the consequences of not accepting yourself for who yu truly are. I thoroughly enjoyed it at the movies, not sure how well the landscpe will translate to smaller TV screns, might lose some of the power.
this movie was so hyped up that it really had a lot to live up to. it got quite a bit of critical acclaim, which also added to its hype. for me, this movie was pretty good, but i wouldnt really want to watch it over and over again. this is a pretty emotional tale, and both men acted it with dignity. a must watch.
It's great how society has opened up suffient enough to allow a movie about homosexualality to win an Oscar. The story was moving, the actors gave amazing performances and you should watch it for it is no doubt a landmark in cinema history, if for no other reason.
Two of the hottest men in hollywood in one picture, girls should be melting in their seats instead they are not, why I hear you ask because the two cowboys are in love, with each other. This was an unusual but enjoyable story of forbidden love in arustic setting with endearing characters and enduring messages. Worth a watch for the sheer controversy it caused at its release , but worthy of praise because of the quality acting, cinematography and screenwriting which make it an enjoyable film.
This is a very good movie, and although perhaps not as amazing as it made out to be it is still a good watch that is different from the other movies out there. This is one of those movies in which it seems that not a lot happens but we learn a lot about the characters and their personalities and relationships and in the end you realise that a lot of things actually have happened. A insightful look at the minds and love of two men. Highly recommended
I really enjoyed this film. Although i was a bit skeptical at first this film really opened my mind to how two men can feel about each other. I rate this film 10 out of 10, it is a breakthrough in the film indusrty and i hope more come like this one, it is a true masterpeice!!!
Brokeback Mountain is a excellent movie to watch. And I loved it. The movie has got me to understand better how two men feels for each other. Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal are very good actors and there are some another very good actors in the movie too. You will need to find a time to watch the movie because the movie takes little bit over 2 hours to watch.
