In this powerful portrait of a lifelong friendship, brassy C.C. Bloom (Bette Midler) and classy Hillary Whitney (Barbara Hershey) share their ups and downs, from good times to bad, through broken marriages and budding careers. Through it all they had each other, and together they would face their greatest challenge. Beaches is an unforgettable film experience, sometimes funny, sometimes deeply moving and always entertaining. Acclaimed for its universal appeal, smash hit soundtrack, and the outstanding performances of box office favourite Midler (Ruthless People, Down And Out In Beverly Hills), and Hershey, who has graced such popular films as Tin Men and Hannah And Her Sisters - you'll cherish Beaches for a long, long time to come.

'Beaches' is the ultimate tear jerking, tissue soaking chick flick. Bette Midler is superb as famous songstress CC Bloom and Barbara Hershey is just wonderful as CC's lifelong friend, Hilary. The love between the two friends waxes and wanes with the demands of their busy lives, but they are always there for each other when they need to be, and that's the bit that will really get you sobbing. ABsolutely beautiful.
When the New York child performer CC Bloom and San Fransisco rich kid Hillary meet in a holiday resort in Atlantic City, it marks the start of a lifetime friendship between them. The two keep in touch through letters for a number of years until Hillary, now a successful lawyer moves to New York to stay with struggling singer CC. The movie shows the various stages of their friendship and their romances including their love for the same man.
I haven't seen this movie for years, but would love to again. It had to be the first movie I ever saw where it brought tears to my eyes. Two young girls meet on the beach - one from a wealthy family, the other not. They become the greatest of friends for the rest of their lives, until the inevitable happens to one of them. A real girlie flick and tear jerker.
A total tearjerker, make sure you have the tissues at the ready for this one. Tells the tale of a friendship spanning the time between two young girls who meet while on holiday, one is brash and outspoken, the other shy and quiet - the friendship stands the test of time and the two help each other through their tough times. Good plotline tinged with sadness, good viewing.
