The epic tale of a woman's life during one of the most tumultuous periods in America's history. From her young, innocent days on a feudalistic plantation to the war-torn streets of Atlanta; from her first love whom she has always desired to three husbands; from the utmost luxury to absolute starvation and poverty; from her innocence to her understanding and comprehension of life.
One of the most beautiful movies of all time, it really does justice to the classic book. Vivien Leigh, though an English actress, makes a superb Southern girl Scarlett, and Clark Gable, well, there could be no one else who made a better Rhett than he. This is definetely one movie not to be missed in this lfietime
I loved this movie as a kid and also love this movie as an adult. Scarlet is the greatest actress of all time. She can live through a war and still come out looking good. Ok, that was a joke. The acting was wonderful and the settings and the costumes were remarkable. Even in today's movies, this one can not be matched. Highly recommended.
This is the finest major classic of all time. True drama and romance of the most epic tale of hard life in the old times. Who could resist watching this war time movie. It's definitely on my cards to watch again.
Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh gave stunning perfomances in a film that will always be a classic. The length should not put anyone off because the sweeping romantic story is one that everybody should see. I loved the soundtrack the costumes and the epic feel. Movies like gone with the wind are rare gems and need to be seen. The film does the book complete justice and beautifully portrays the love that was meant to be seen. My only complaint was that it doesn't go on to show what happens to Scarlett O'hara. You have to see it!
It was max steiners soundtrack that first drew me to this film, and one scene with Vivien Leigh that kept me mesmorised. David Selznick's production is splendid and is part and parcel of building the legend, but it is margeret mitchells story, and the memorable performances which make this the greatest movie in history. If you want a movie that will have you glued to the screen for viewing after viewing, then this is your pick!
